The parish was founded in 1909 by immigrants from Belarus who had settled in the East New York section of Brooklyn. The present onion-domed church at the corner of Glenmore and Pennsylvania Avenues was built in 1935; the architect is unknown. In the late 1950s the interior was redecorated with murals by iconographer Pimen Sofronoff.
