The parish was formed in 1894 by Slavic immigrants received into Orthodoxy by Bishop Nicholas (Ziorov) with the participation of Fr. Alexis Toth; the first church was dedicated in 1895. In 1896 Emperor Nicholas II gave the parish six bells cast in St. Petersburg; the US Congress passed a special bill to admit them duty free. The present brick building on East Main Street was dedicated on Palm Sunday 1937 and rededicated in 1981. The parish belongs to the Diocese of New England of the Orthodox Church in America.
