The parish was organised in 1909 under the leadership of Fr Peter Kockanik by Russian, Carpatho-Russian and Ukrainian founders. Services were first held in one of the purchased houses; the present church with three blue domes was built in 1920. The Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation has marked the church with a Historic Landmark plaque. The parish belongs to the Archdiocese of Western Pennsylvania of the Orthodox Church in America.
