In 1902 a community of immigrants from the Carpathian region bought the old Presbyterian church on Third Street and the adjacent land; the first Liturgy was served on 13 July 1902. In 1910 the parish adopted the title of the Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church of Saints Peter and Paul. The new building at the corner of Third and Monroe Streets was consecrated by Archbishop Platon on 14 September 1913; according to the parish, Emperor Nicholas II donated 40,000 dollars towards its construction. The cathedral belongs to the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA (Moscow Patriarchate).
