The parish was founded by immigrants from the Vilna Governorate. In 1905 Archpriest Alexander Hotovitsky formed a brotherhood to raise funds for a church; a wooden church was built in the autumn of 1905 and dedicated in early 1906 by Archbishop Tikhon (Bellavin). After a fire severely damaged the wooden building, the present brick and stone church, modelled on St Theodosius Cathedral in Cleveland, was built in 1915; its interior was decorated with murals in 1932–1934. The parish belongs to the Diocese of New York and New Jersey of the Orthodox Church in America.
