The parish was established in 1894 by emigrants from the Russian and Austro-Hungarian empires and is regarded as the oldest Orthodox parish in Western New York. The church complex in the Lovejoy neighbourhood took shape between 1912 and 1965; the yellow-brick church with two towers was designed in 1932 by architect Joseph E. Fronczak. In 2015 the complex was listed on the US National Register of Historic Places. The parish belongs to the Diocese of New York and New Jersey of the Orthodox Church in America.
