The only Russian Orthodox church in the capital of Uruguay. In 1922 Archpriest Konstantin Izraztsov came to Montevideo; the first services were held in the priest's house. The foundation stone of the church was laid in September 1926; in 1934 the Russian Orthodox Community in Uruguay obtained legal status. Construction stalled in the 1930s, resumed after the Second World War and was completed within five years.
