The Russian Orthodox church on Clarence Road was built in 2002–2003 to a design by the architects Peter Barrett and Natalia Maximova (Archimax). It replaced a dilapidated parish church set up in Longsight by Russian refugees of the post-war years; in 1993 the parish moved from the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia to the Sourozh Diocese of the Moscow Patriarchate. Regular services in the new church began in autumn 2003.
