The building on Ferry Road was erected in 1913 as an Anglican chapel of ease; it was closed in 1972, later used as a workshop and store, and fell into disrepair. In 2008 it was bought by the Russian Orthodox Parish of St Nicholas the Wonderworker (Diocese of Sourozh of the Russian Orthodox Church), formed in 2006. After seven months of rebuilding costing £250,000, the church was consecrated in October 2010.
