RomaniaБухарест1905–1909Public buildings
The church of the Russian diplomatic mission was founded in 1905 on a plot donated by the Romanian government and built with funds of the Russian Empire to a design by academician Mikhail Preobrazhensky; it was consecrated in 1909. In 1934 it was handed to the Romanian Orthodox Church for university students, in 1947–1957 it was under the Moscow Patriarchate, and then returned to the Romanian Church. Since 1992 it has been the church of the University of Bucharest, still known locally as the "Russian Church".
