A Russian cemetery on the slope of Mount Inasa at the Buddhist temple of Goshinji, where foreigners had been buried since the 17th century. The first Russian graves date from 1858, when sailors of the frigate Askold were buried here; sailors who died of wounds in 1904–1905 were interred later. An Orthodox chapel of St Nicholas stands on the plot. In 1969, with the assistance of the Nagasaki authorities, the cemetery was restored at the expense of the Soviet side: a new stone wall was built and the chapel was renovated; the temple's abbot undertook the care of the graves.
