The plot in Jaffa was acquired in 1868 with the participation of Archimandrite Antonin (Kapustin), head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission; a hostel for pilgrims arriving through the port of Jaffa and a garden were laid out first. The church was founded on 19 October 1888 in the presence of Grand Dukes Sergei and Paul Alexandrovich and Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna and consecrated in 1894. The compound contains a tomb venerated as the burial place of St. Tabitha.
Участок в Яффе приобретён в 1868 году при участии начальника Русской духовной миссии архимандрита Антонина (Капустина); сначала здесь устроили приют для паломников, прибывавших через яффский порт, и сад. Храм заложен 19 октября 1888 года в присутствии великих князей Сергея и Павла Александровичей и великой княгини Елизаветы Фёдоровны и освящён в 1894 году. На подворье находится гробница, почитаемая как место погребения праведной Тавифы.
