GermanyГамбург2004–2007Public buildings
The building was erected in 1906–1907 as the Evangelical Lutheran Gnadenkirche to a design by the architect Fernando Lorenzen. In 2004, in order to preserve it as a place of worship, it was handed over to the Hamburg parish of St John of Kronstadt of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), founded in 2001. In 2007 the church was consecrated in the Orthodox rite, and in the summer of that year five onion domes with Orthodox crosses were installed. Restoration work was later carried out in the chancel and sacristy.
