After the Château de la Cossonnerie was bought in 1927 as a home for elderly Russian émigrés, a Russian Orthodox section was opened in the municipal cemetery. The church was designed by Albert Benois: the foundation stone was laid on 9 April 1938 and it was consecrated on 14 October 1939 by Metropolitan Evlogy; the Mérimée database also names the painter Marguerite Benois among its authors. A French historic monument since 1974.
