The cathedral was founded on 3 March 1859 and consecrated on 11 September 1861; it was designed by the architects Roman Kuzmin and Ivan Strohm, and Emperor Alexander II donated 200,000 francs towards its construction. It has been a French monument historique since 1981. It is the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Russian Orthodox Churches in Western Europe, which was received into the Moscow Patriarchate on 7 October 2019.
Собор заложен 3 марта 1859 года и освящён 11 сентября 1861 года; проект архитекторов Романа Кузьмина и Ивана Штрома, император Александр II пожертвовал на строительство 200 тысяч франков. С 1981 года — исторический памятник Франции. Кафедральный храм Архиепископии западноевропейских приходов русской традиции, которая 7 октября 2019 года принята в состав Московского патриархата.
