An Empire-style building completed in 1828 to designs by architects Carl Ludvig Engel and Carlo Bassi at the western tip of the Åland Islands, then part of the Grand Duchy of Finland within the Russian Empire; today it is in Finland. It served as the post station and customs house on the sea route to Sweden and was deliberately built larger than needed. In 1953–1994 it was a holiday home for postal staff; since 1994 it has been owned by the Province of Åland and serves as a cultural centre with a museum and exhibitions.
