FinlandСавитайпале1791–1793Military sites
A bastion fort at the Kärnäkoski rapids built by Russia in 1791–1793 under the direction of Alexander Suvorov as part of the South-Eastern Finland fortification system; the territory was then within the Russian Empire and is now in Finland. After 1809, when the border moved, the fort lost its purpose and was decommissioned. The ramparts were restored in the 1980s–1990s under the Finnish Heritage Agency.
