FinlandРийхимяки1910–1914Military sites
A garrison built from 1910 to standard designs of the Russian War Ministry for troops covering the railway to St Petersburg; the territory was then part of the Russian Empire. The land was acquired in 1910 and work continued for about four years; the first unit stationed here was the 10th Finland Rifle Regiment. About fifty brick buildings survive — barracks, officers' houses, an officers' club, a hospital, stores and stables, as well as the garrison church of 1913–1914, Lutheran since 1960. The Finnish army has used the garrison since 1919.
