The wooden church in the Strathcona neighbourhood was built in 1938–1940 by Archpriest Alexander Kiziun, a missionary priest and carpenter who designed the building himself; finishing work continued until 1950. In 1954 a parish of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, organised that year, bought the church from the builder's widow. The building appears in the Vancouver Heritage Foundation's Heritage Site Finder; the parish belongs to the Montreal and Canadian Diocese.
