The parish was founded in 1915 by the first Russian immigrants in Toronto and was originally located on Glen Morris Street. In 1966, after the Province of Ontario bought the earlier site for the University of Toronto, the parish purchased the former St. Cyprian's Anglican Church on Manning Avenue; the building was completed in 1906 to a design by R. B. McGiffin (Chapman & McGiffin). The cathedral belongs to the Archdiocese of Canada of the Orthodox Church in America; the building is listed in the City of Toronto heritage inventory.

Б. Макгиффин (бюро «Чепмен и Макгиффин»). Собор входит в Архиепископию Канады Православной церкви в Америке; здание значится в перечне объектов наследия города Торонто.
