The first church on the site was built in 1899 by a Greek Catholic congregation of settlers from Galicia. Part of the congregation joined the Russian Orthodox mission; the church was closed in 1902–1906, and on 3 December 1907 the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in London settled the case over the building in favour of the Russo-Greek Orthodox congregation, with compensation paid to the other side. In 1913 the log church was dismantled and the present wood-frame cruciform domed church was built. It was designated a Municipal Historic Resource in 2006; the parish belongs to the Archdiocese of Canada of the Orthodox Church in America.
The parish directory of the Orthodox Church in America (2026 edition) lists the church as active within the St. Tikhon Group of Churches (Wostok, Desjarlais, Star, Sunland).
