The building at 60 Hawthorne Street was erected as the residence 'Dalma' (the city register gives both 1909 and 1925 as dates), divided into flats by 1940. The parish was formed on 20 March 1950; in 1952, according to the city register, the house was sold to a new owner and, according to a local-history publication, donated to the parish the same year; the city council granted the Russian Orthodox Church permission to convert it into a church, the second Russian Orthodox church in Brisbane. According to the register the conversion was probably carried out by the parishioners themselves; an extension for a Sunday school and library was added in the 1960s. The church has been a Brisbane local heritage place since 1 July 2002.
