The parish was founded on 31 March 1952; in its first years services were held in premises rented from the Anglican Church. In November 1953 it was announced that the parish had bought land in Bell Park, a northern suburb of Geelong; the first liturgy on its own property was celebrated on 8 June 1958, and the permanent church was built to a design by the architect Gennady Scheromsky. The parish belongs to the Australian and New Zealand Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.
