The missionary community in Blacktown was formed in 1952; services were held in private homes and rented premises. In 1958, under the rector Archpriest Philip Osipov, the foundations of a church dedicated to the Archangel Michael were laid; on 21 November 1958 the community was given parish status, and by the end of January 1959 construction had begun. The parish belongs to the Australian and New Zealand Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia; in 2009 it marked the church's 50th anniversary.

В 1958 году при настоятеле протоиерее Филиппе Осипове был заложен храм во имя Архангела Михаила, 21 ноября 1958 года община получила статус прихода, а к концу января 1959 года началось строительство.
